Mao Zedong

Mao Zedong(1893-1976), alias Run Zhi, was from Xiangtan in Hunan province. Mao was a Chinese Communist revolutionary and the founding father of the People's Republic of China. He graduated from Hunan First Normal College in July 1918. In the same year, he came to Peking University in autumn to work as a librarian while he audited some courses in the university. Mao converted to Marxism–Leninism under the influence and guidance of the chief librarian, Li Dazhao. Particularly influenced by the May Fourth Movement of 1919, Mao actively participated in the dissemination of Marxism and became a founding member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).In 1921,Mao represented Hunan Communist Party in his attendance at the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China. After the establishment of the Communist Party, Mao successively held posts as the member of the CPC Central Committee, the chairman of the CPC Central Committee, the chairman of the Central Military Commission, and the chairman of China, etc. He selflessly devoted his whole life in his everlasting contribution to the establishment and development of Chinese Communism, Central Military Commission, the cause of liberation for the Chinese people, the founding of People’s Republic of China, and the socialist cause. Mao’s major works have been edited into Collected Works of Mao Tse-tung.
